- Insert the Windows XP CD and boot from the CD.
- When the options appear first R = Repair, press the R key
- Press the number that corresponds with the location of the Windows installation you want to repair.
- Usually # 1 - Change to the CD Drive you are.
- Write: CD-Write i386: expand ntkrnlmp.ex_ C: \ Windows \ System32 \ ntoskrnl.exe
- If Windows XP is installed elsewhere, change according to location.
- Remove your CD and type exit-only copy ntoskrnl.exe from your friends computer system32 directory to your system32 directory with a record of your hdd on slave made it first on your friend's computer / windows that are still good and his windows same version of SP1 with SP1, SP2 with SP2 and not vice versa.
